Black Drum Fishing Tackle Rig Setup for Crystal River Florida

RIG IT RIGHT BY WRIGHT AND MCGILLON TODAY’S RIG IT RIGHT SEGMENT I’M
GONNA SHOW YOU WHAT CAPTAIN BILLY HAD ME THROWIN’ OUT THERE TODAY I STARTED OFF WITH THE EIGHT
FOOTER JUST BECAUSE A COUPLE OF DAYS PRIOR WHEN BILLY CALLED ME UP HE SAID BLAIR I’M
ON SOME SIXTY POUND BLACK DRUM AND YA GOTTA GET OVER HERE AND DO ‘EM SO STARTED OFF WITH
THE EIGHT FOOTER NEW GENERATION TWO FLATS BLUE AND I HAD THE EIGHT FOOTER RIGGED UP
WITH THE BLUE X S IT’S AN EIGHT STAND BRAID HAD ALL THOSE OYSTER BARS AROUND HAD IT RIGGED
UP WITH SEAGUAR FLUOROCARBON FORTY POUND TEST ‘CAUSE THOSE OYSTERS REACH OUT AND TOUCH IT
AND A LOT A TIMES IF YOUR NOT USING THE X S OR A GOOD FORTY POUND SEAGUAR FLUOROCARBON
IT’S GOING TO CUT IT RIGHT AWAY SO THAT’S WHY I WAS USING THE EIGHT FOOTER WITH YA KNOW
PRETTY HEAVY LINE ON THERE AND I HAD IT RIGGED WITH A SMALL TROKAR CIRCLE HOOK AND A THE
REASON FOR A SMALL TROKAR CIRCLE HOOK IS BECAUSE THE BLACK DRUM THEY HAVE THAT MOUTH THAT IS
REALLY RUBBERY AND YOU CAN HOOK ‘EM REAL GOOD AND AS SOON AS THE HOOK STARTS PENETRATING
IT GOES ALL THE WAY THROUGH A LATER ON IN THE DAY BILLY HAD ME THROWING THE SEVEN SIX
JUST BECAUSE YA KNOW WE DIDN’T SEE ANY OF THOSE SIXTY POUNDERS OUT THERE AND IT’S A
LOT MORE FUN ON A SMALLER ROD CATCHIN’ THOSE GREAT BIG FISH HAD IT RIGGED WITH FIFTEEN
POUND TEST WINDTAMER BECAUSE THE WIND WAS ABSOLUTELY HOWLING TOWARDS THE END OF THE
DAY YA EVER GET A CHANCE TO HEAD OVER TO HOMASASSA AND FISH WITH CAPTAIN BILLY I HIGHLY RECOMMEND
IT ONE HECK OF A GUIDE THAT ABOUT DOES IT FOR THE RIG IT RIGHT REMEMBER ONE THING EVERY
SEASON STARTS RIGHT HERE AT DICK’S.RIG IT RIGHT BY WRIGHT AND MCGILL

  1. What's a good braided line. I recently had a frustrating day with a braided line that kept getting loose on my real causing me to loose my catches because I couldn't set my hook due to it dragging out right off the real. I had to keep pulling my line tight before casting and it still would do it. Horrible experience.

  2. I really like your show, but these days it's practically one big commercial. If I had the money I would pay you the difference just to pull the reigns a bit!

  3. Hey capt. I was thinking of getting a 8 foot blue rod and 3000 reel with 10 pound line. You think that will help me cast further or should I get a totally different set?
