Fish Monitoring in the Sacramento River

Fish Monitoring in the Sacramento River

[Music] My name is Josh Franco and I work for Congressman John Garamendi… We’re out here today with the U.S. Fish and Wildife Service… …to take a look at the important work they do… …and helping us better understand the science behind the
policies that the congressman has to consider. My name is Heather Webb and I’m a fish and
wildlife biologist with the Bay-Delta Fish and Wildlife Office… …and I’m a fish and wildlife biologist there… …where we came out today to show people how the
Kodiak trawl works on the Sacramento River… …where we monitor the abundance and distribution of fish species in the Delta. The Kodiak trawl comes out three times a week here
at Sherwood Harbor to monitor the fish …and they do it year round, and during a different part of the
season, they sometimes switch to a mid-water trawl as well. The trawls will benefit the Service knowing when the

fish are migrating through the system… …when their presence can allow us to make
real time monitoring decisions for the species
