How to catch Tilapia!

Hello Everyone. My name is Santrupth and today my friend Naveen and I are going to fish for Tilapia So the first step in finding Tilapia is a good spot. They like to hide in plenty of cover like that Just to confirm if there are Tilapia in there, you just have to take a piece of bread like this and throw it in there and you just chum the place with a little bit of bread and they’ll come and get it and then you’ll know if there are Tilapia in there Okay.. So the second step is equipment So this is a medium action rod medium power and medium action rod which is suitable for both bigger and smaller fish i would rather prefer… a light power and a fast action rod since you can detect bites easier especially if you’re a beginner And the third step is your bait You can use pretty much anything for Tilapia bait like worms… or bread or dough. Worms have worked pretty well for me so far But today we’re going to use some dough made from whole wheat flour And one more thing.. the hook.. try to get a hook as small as possible This is a size 12 Eagle Claw hook But you can go for anything between size 10 -14 because Tilapia have very very tiny mouths And a bigger hook means , they’ll just steal your bait Let’s try our luck with some dough So when you’re baiting your hook, make sure that you leave the hook exposed, Otherwise you’re not going to hook the fish. They’re just going to steal your bait and you won’t get a good hookset. So, try to cover the hook as much as possible But leave the tip exposed , so that you can hook the fish (They’re right here) As you can see, they stole the bait They have the tiniest mouths Naveen: There is a snake Oh yeah! It’s just a water snake Let’s hope it’s harmless You’ll be getting plenty of bites. It’s just that, their mouths are really really tiny and they will… take the bait off your hook. So leave about 6 foot of ( line ) So this is a monofilament leader It’s an 8 pound monofilament You can downsize it, you can go for a 4 pound or a 6 pound monofilament and the bites will be more sensitive So if you’re a beginner it’s a very fun fish to catch because you don’t have to wait for too long They’re pretty aggressive today So if you can find worms, that would be a very great bait, because they stay on the hook much better Naveen: Nice bro That’s the first fish Tiny guy!! You might also want to keep some pliers handy(Needle nose). We don’t want to touch the fish too much So the fish have a protective membrane That’s why it’s quite slippery(slimy) The slippery part is the protective membrane It protects them from all kinds of infections So we want to try to touch them as little as possible. If you want to click a photograph do it soon. You have 10 seconds to decide if you want to keep the fish or not and it was a big enough fish, we would keep it but, he was a tiny guy, so we let him go These fish taste pretty good, They’re not very flaky but They’re quite delicious Let’s see if we can hook a bigger fish The weather is not perfect, but It’s not that bad either We didn’t expect it to rain this much Naveen: We were totally unprepared This is the only frustrating part(re-baiting) they have such tiny mouths (The reason i like to use worms is because they’re stiffer than dough) (The dough was turning softer due to rain) Naveen: (It’s starting to rain heavly) So we’re not keeping him We’ll get him out as quickly as possible It’s Naveen’s turn now and let’s see if he can catch anything It’s his first time fishing and.. I really hope he likes it (Take a small chunk) (Since the hook is small) (Did you get a bite?) So Naveen got his first bite (It’s starting to pour) He got a couple of bites (leave it in there. It will run with your bait. You’ll know.) I think it’s time for us to leave now. It’s raining pretty heavily
