Ice Fishing Rods & Hand Lines : Rigging an Ice Fishing Rod: Bullets & Flashers

Let’s take a look at bullets and flashers
as they attach to the medium and light rods. Notice that you have an open bail type reel
here. Flip open that bail and you can get slack line, close the bail and the line can
be taut. What we’re going to do is we’re going to open that bail to give us enough slack
line to take one of these bullet sinkers, like such, and tie it on to the swivel end
of the bullet sinker. Now you want to take this through and loop it through there twice
instead of just once like on the smaller ones because you’re looking for a larger fish and
you want to create a loop here in the center, tighten that loop a little bit, then wrap
the tag end around the slack four to five times. Then take the tag end through both
loops, you have two loops here now, take it through two loops, pinch it off between your
index finger and your middle finger and tighten it. That gives you a good tight double loop
knot. And then of course you want to take your finger nail clippers and clip off the
tag end. Now you have a swivel with a bullet and flasher attached to it.
