LEKI Kumara Trekking Poles

LEKI Kumara Trekking Poles

The LEKI Kumara Trekking Poles are the perfect
balance of durability, quality and price. This is a three section aluminum trekking
pole, so aluminum very durable material there. They also keep the weight down a little bit
with that aluminum and the high quality that you would expect from LEKI. As I said, this is a three sections telescoping
pole so you have got LEKI’s Super Lock System, which is basically an internal locking mechanisms
that provide a very secure hold once they are locked in place, very easy to set up this
pole, so this internal lock is basically a twist mechanism. So you twist it to loosen
it up, you adjust it to your preferred length and these poles adjust from 110 centimeters
all the way up to 145 centimeters. So you have a lot of adjustability, a wide range
there. And when you get to the top there is a little note that says: Stop, max, which
means you shouldn’t adjust it higher than that point. Let’s say want to adjust to 130 centimeters.
Once you feel that bite a little bit, give it an-other quarter turn and then the poles
are locked. You have a very secure lock there. You do the same thing on the bottom part of
the pole. So, again, twist it to open it. Ad-just it to the preferred height. So I would
adjust the bottom to 130 and then give it an extra little turn there. And then you have
a very secure system. Going up to the grips, you have LEKI’s very
durable and soft PAS rubber grips. These are a very ergonomic shape. So in the front here
you have a nice place where you can really grip on to it. On the back side you have ventilation
so that is great for warmer weather if your hands begin to perspire or sweat. That is
going to vent really well. And the top is kind of an oval shaped. So you can definitely
palm the top of this pole. It is not as big or as broad as some of LEKI’s other grips.
So it is not really meant for palming as much as the other ones are, but you can definitely
get a hand on to of the pole if you need to. And then really soft woven straps here. This
is an adjustable strap. So to adjust it, you just pull that up, adjust the bottom and then
lock it closed. So really easy to use there. Going down to the tip of the trekking pole,
you have LEKI’s carbide flex tips. The tip on the end is a replaceable piece. It is a
press fit tip, so after years of use you can replace that. You have basically a new pair
of poles there. The carbide end is very durable. That is the end that comes into contact with
the ground. It gives you a really good bite on trails and on ice or snow. If you are using
this in winter conditions and you want a bigger basket, this basket is removable so there
is threads on that tip. And if you are using this son improved surfaces or harder surfaces,
you can get a rubber tip protector to put over top. The carbide flex tip isn’t really flexible
as, you know, if you are just looking at it. It is not actually a flexible tip. But it
does flex more than the actual pole would. So if you were to get this stuck between rocks,
this would actually take the force before the actual trekking pole. So it is meant to
break away before the pole. It is going to really protect your pole in those instances.
So a really smart design there, really good quality tip. With the LEKI Kumara Trekking Poles you have
a really value conscious, budget friendly pole, but you have those really secure locks,
the LEKI super locks and you have the very durable aluminum shafts. So all of the durability
and quality that you would expect from LEKI and, like I said, telescoping poles. So very
easy to travel with and it would be a great option for anyone traveling, hiking, backpacking,
that needs a little bit more stability and a little bit more support. It is the LEKI Kumara Trekking Poles.
