Support: Compass Calibration on a Garmin Handheld

Hi, I’m Brock from Garmin Product Support, and today I’m going to help you calibrate the compass on your Garmin Outdoor handheld device It is a simple process and there are a couple reasons why you may need to calibrate the compass You may need to calibrate the compass if you’ve changed the batteries, if the weather changes great, or if you move If you move a large distance or are even just
traveling, you may need to calibrate the compass The first thing you need to do is to make
sure you are away from all metal Metal can interfere with the calibration process,
that’s why we’re out in this field today To begin, press the page button to navigate
to and select the compass screen From the compass screen, select menu and chose
the “Calibrate Compass” option It is important to note that when you’re calibrating the compass that you orientate the device in the same direction that you’re seeing on screen First it will have you rotate the device horizontal
to the ground When complete, the device will say “Step Complete” If for some reason something goes wrong, the device will say “Step Failed” and it will give the option to retry Next it will have you roll the device You’ll notice that there is also an audible tone when each step is complete The final step is to flip the device When done, you’ll get a “Calibration Successful”
message It’s that simple! If you have any other questions or need help
