UC Davis’ Solar Farm Cuts Carbon Footprint

UC Davis’ Solar Farm Cuts Carbon Footprint

This is the UC Davis large solar panel plant.
It is the largest solar panel plant on the university campus anywhere in the country.
A large research university like UC Davis uses a lot of power, and UC Davis has made
a commitment to make all of that power carbon neutral by 2025. And this is a large step
forward in that plan. This power plant kind of combines the best
of both worlds. Of being large utility scale and therefore very cost effective but also
being on site and behind the utility meter and therefore offsetting a lot more of the
utility charges. So it’s a very cost effective plant the way it’s set up. It really continues the leadership that UC
Davis has had with regard to energy and cutting renounced gas emissions. The scale of the
site is just amazing: 62 acres of solar panel and it really tells a great story about the
future for UC Davis.
